Housing Department
PCG’s Housing Department supports the CalWORKs Housing Support Program (HSP) and the Family Stabilization (FS) Program for the Central, East, and South Regions of San Diego County. Both of these programs provide assistance to CalWORKs families experiencing barriers to self-sufficiency due to homelessness and housing instability. Additionally, if you participate in the CalWORKs Welfare to Work (WTW) Program, your family may also receive assistance through FS with eviction prevention, past due utilities, and vehicle repair to ensure you are able to participate in assigned activities.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Family Stabilization (FS) Program FAQs
-
To participate in the FS Program, you must first be enrolled in the CalWORKs Welfare to Work (WTW) Program. If you are a WTW participant, you could be eligible to receive financial support for utility bill payments (electricity, gas, water, trash, telephone), vehicle repairs, past due rent, and other necessities. Contact your Employment Training Advisor (ETA) directly to participate in the FS Program.
-
If you are an FS Program participant, you will need to provide us a copy of your utility bill with the past due amount.
-
If your car needs repairs to make it operational and/or safe to drive, you could be eligible to receive financial support to repair your vehicle. Types of vehicle repairs that could qualify for financial support include: engine repairs, tires, windshield damage, radiator problems, etc. You may also qualify for assistance with expired registration costs.
-
If you are an FS Program participant, you will need to obtain and provide us with two (2) vehicle repair estimates from licensed mechanics. You will also need to provide copies of your car registration, valid driver’s license, and ensure that your vehicle has been reported on your CalWORKs case.
-
If you are an FS Program participant, you may be eligible for financial assistance to prevent eviction and/or for past due rent. You may also qualify to receive up to three (3) months of ongoing rental subsidies in addition to past due rent support.
-
You will need to provide PCG with documentation showing that you are on the verge of being evicted. Documentation could be a pay or quit, past due, or eviction notice, or something in writing from your landlord (such as an email).
